Has anyone seen this before? If so, what would you do to repair this? Does it look ok to use to finish out the season or should I repair it before being used again?

I am trying to reassemble the deck and cant remember how the draft arm(to raise/lower deck) goes together it is a model 41 deck if someone has a picture that would be great!!

Thats been seen before, though its hard to make out EXACTLY what Im looking at, looks like the hole is elongated...there was a huge thread around here somewhere of all the fixes for that. Most require welding and grinding or drilling.

I repaired mine some time back when I noticed a LOT of were all over on it. I just welded up all the worn spots and ground it back down...

Id probably fix it before I used it again, but then I have everything I need to do that, some people dont. If you do, why not. If you dont, then Id probably wait, and see if you could get it taken care of over the winter.

The hole is elongated just about out the side. Someone welded a washer to it and it looks like it has worn thru that too. I don't have a tools but am looking for a miller 210 welder to add to the collection. I just really need my mower for the rest of the season. Thanks for the help.

Josh,
I had to fix mine few years ago, same problem.
http://www.wfmachines.com/discus/messages/335/114880.html?1159507783

Also I add this bushing to increase the friction surface.
With this bushing, the hole at the top of the bushing must be oval to follow the angle of the rod.
A small ball joint might be a better solution.

The problem is how to lubricate this rod and hole.
With oil or grease, the dust will mix with the lubricant and become like a grinding compound.

Any opinion about using graphite to avoid this problem?

Andre
