Guys I replaced the hydro control valve on my 400 and noted that the linkages that were attached to the replacement valve were different then the stock unit. Unfortunately after I had everything mounted and lines re-attached I connected the linkages to my hydro control arms and it doesn't fit properly. Before I tear it all out again, has anyone ever changed out the linkages with the control valve bolted in place? Did you have to remove the entire pedestal to do so? I'm not psyched to pull the pedestal but tearing out the control valve is not a fun proposition either. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Greg,
You have probably figured out that there were two different control valve styles and two different lever/linkage styles. I have taken apart and reassembled the inner-most linkages (in order to remove the steering gear) with the valve in place. This was pretty tedious and I am just not sure if all three linkage sets can be done.

Well I had some unexpected time today to work on the 400. Got the hydro control valve levers changes out and reinstalled back in the frame. Everything lined up really nice once again. Man I hope I don't have to do that again anytime soon. I must say the placement of the control valve and levers in the 400 by the JD designers clearly didn't have maintenance in mind. That was a bear.
