Picked this up Sunday. Seems to run good.

If anyone has an operator's manual, on the tractor, deck and anything else 430 related, I appreciate it. If not I'm off to ebay to find some. I already have the service manual.

Also the guy I got it from only had the deck lifting only an inch (maybe less). So any advice on changing how much the deck lowers and lifts is appreciated.

there is a clevis pin above the deck on each side to the lift arm that can control height as well as the nut on the rear on the rock shaft.

been a few years since I messed with mine but playing with both should get you there

nice looking machine

Terry,

Is your deck the new style with clip on belt covers, or the old style <525,000 that has bolt on belt guards? I have a manual for the old style, but mine is a new one

KB

Nice score, BTW

Thanks, Knotty. I had all those manuals but the CMT one. As for the dropbox, I can't do dropbox, but I think it was the TM1591 which I have anyways.

KB,
As for the deck, I have to check. But it doesn't hurt to send the manual anyways.

Ron,
1600 hours, but the previous owner stated it had the engine replaced at one time by Deere. I have to check the rockshaft adjustment.

Terry,
Nice find. Did you drive like you stole it?

How much?

Great find Terry. We love all of ours. Couldn't believe it when the wife thought we needed one with a 44 loader.

Terry-the deck will not raise/lower much. On one side there is a fixed lifting strap. On the other should be an adjusting strap so you can level the side to side of the deck. The rockshaft which does the raising will always raise to the same height. The lowering is controled by the back threaded rod on the rockshaft. Don't use the gauge wheels to control the height-needs to be 1/4 inch off the ground roughly (the gauge wheels). My 332 deck only raises about an inch as well and it is the same lift setup. I never have mounted a 420/430 deck yet but the front drive/mount is what is different.

Enjoy that diesel-they sip fuel. Just watch the nose of the thing so you don't bend that nice metal up front.

Thanks, guys. I actually do feel like I stole it. I tried to talk the guy out of it (the trade) and even tried to forewarn him of what he was getting in return. For that reason (that and getting sick from the heat), I couldn't mustered up the usual excitement of a new tractor. I fell a little guilty. But, I think I did my best to sweeten the deal for him buy throwing in some extra stuff and some cash. But, still......
