The engine sounds like it need more work to be done because it's has a clicking sound and I'm pretty sure that's not how an engine sounds. Anyway I'm contemplating if I go for a new engine or just fix the problem.

It has a bad 50” JD mower deck, all pulleys and the belt, bearings and power coating also. But I’m looking at a 46” but can’t find any that’s perfect I want a new one if you can recommend any that would be a
good start for me.

I plan to add a 47 two stage snow blower and possibly a bagger/mcs to pick up leaves. No battery yet but the dash light come on when I used the dealer’s battery, so I’ll be needing a new battery, the fuel pump should like it’s running but the starter does not turn over. Any ideas where to look first?

Also, another issue I need help diagnosing, The steering wheel is spinning freely with no input to the wheels absolutely no resistance. What could this problem be related to?

I can't wait to use these machines and I’ll be glad to really make use of it. Let me know what you guys suggest I look into before I make the the purchase

The first 2 things to look for on starting issues - PTO switch has 2 contacts that need to be made signaling that the PTO is Off- 2nd is the Hydro lever must be in the Neutral position closing the switch contacts.

For later model 318 tractors the parking brake must also be set...below is the wiring excerpt that shows what enables cranking. For those tractors that do not have a rear PTO fitted, there should be a jumper at X5 that bypasses where the second PTO switch would have been.
