I was talking by the machine today and noticed that there was air in the filter, with the tank a little less than half full.

I pulled the fenders and started looking at the line all the way back, with no issues. I replaced the line just to be safe, and pulled the tank grommet. As I suspected, there was no pickup tube attached Now to decide whether to get a new screen (I already need the grommet) or go on a fishing expedition to get the other out of the tank.

Pick up screen for open frame 3XX is still available from Deere. 4XX is not.

The pick screen has metal tube that also determines fuel reserve level on the shutoff valve.

New pickup tube and grommet installed, along with all new fuel lines. What a pain in the neck it is to get that grommet to seat! Everything seems to be in order after I bled the fuel system.

I also installed the belly pan.


The wires that are capped, I assume the yellow is for rear lighting and the crimped ones are for a (defeated) seat switch?
