Hello WFM'ers,

This is my first contribution/question to WFM. This last year I bought my first green tractor - a 1974 140H3 for a do-all machine (mowing, garden tilling, and snow removal). I have it set up for winter now with an old round chute blower in great shape (thanks Richard Boley), wheel weights, V61s, and tru-powers. I've used a snowblower before and know they work well, but would like a cab for windy days. I have had an eye out for a decent cab for a while, but haven't had much luck. Has anyone adapted a cab for a newer D-series to work on a 140? They are $350 from eBay or Home Depot, which is a sizeable chunk of change lost if it cannot be made to work.

My advice would be to hang tight and keep an eye open for an all metal Cozy Cab or one of the metal frame/soft door JD/Hinson cabs. The correct Cozy Cab model for the 140 is the 14 JDX, but later models for the 300 Series can fit as well.

I am in the process of refurbing a 14 JDX for my 72 140. Now that I have one and have seen how robust these are, it would be hard to contemplate a fabric tent like HD is selling.

If you wouldn't mind a road trip, there is a guy in western NY selling a pretty nice 14 JDX on CL. It would be a direct fit and the price is very fair ($500).

P.S. Nice 140, and welcome to WFM!

I looked for a cab for a bit and gave up.

So I saved my money and use my existing Ski mask, face mask, and ski outfit. also like to put on rain suit pants so snow wont melt through my pants.

I cant wait for it to start snowing to play with my 420 and 46 thrower.

Richard,
I have recently acquired a 3.5" stroke push/pull hydraulic cylinder that I will be using for a future snow blower revitalization and hydraulic chute rotation project. The company I work for makes their own hydraulic cylinders and I happen to work in engineering

JRP/Knotty,
Thanks for the 2 cents. I would LOVE a cozy cab but a soft door variant would be okay as well. The other option is a bercomac. They are universal (or so they say) and appear to be well built and easy to install/remove. Has anyone used a berco cab before? Any pictures of a 140 with one?
