Yup all part of the hobby. I've been learning more than ever on this tractor and it was running fine not too long ago so figure it can't be anything too serious.
Yup all part of the hobby. I've been learning more than ever on this tractor and it was running fine not too long ago so figure it can't be anything too serious.I feel your frustration, don't let it get to ya, believe me that's part of collecting old tractors. Currently I am working on my 50 that started running rough. When I opened its oil bath air cleaner it had several mice in various stages of decomposition in the cup. Usually I just find nuts and once had one pretty much filled with shelled corn. Now I am waiting on the carb to come back and the cylinder head to get done. Hopefully it will run great once all that is done otherwise I will have spent a lot of money and not resolved the problem, believe me I have been there before.
Thanks. Yup not quite the old me anymore but that's not saying I can't be a new me with some limitations. As much as I get mad about the kid and the family, or my boss switching me onto trees I need to remember how far I've come from not being able to eat or get out of bed for 4 days to grinding my teeth trying to get back into this hobby. Even with a few set backs still moving forward. End of this month I have a follow up on the left better knee to determine more pt or not and I need an exam on the right hardware one for possible legitimate damage. If I need another surgery on that one.....well hey it's going to be winter soon.Happy anniversary Tony! Progress is good, albeit small at times. Cars used to have Oil Pressure gauges, then the car companies figured out that people fretted over them too much so you don't find them anymore.
Thanks. I've read about a sock, or milk sock. My 2nd thought after I came to my senses was after wiggling my fingures and toes was " well I can still move apparently " yup good days and bad but getting back to wrenching on stuff even if it's a struggle its still something I can still do. You see people in wheelchairs or missing both arms out doing fully capable people so I don't have anything to really complain about. Thank you(all) for the encouragement.I'll put in a plug for Evergreen Gages too. Our B needed all new gages too, and this company was the only one recommended. Glad I followed the advice given 10-12 years ago. They work!
Another tip for the two cylinder letter tractors. When left sitting for a while, put a sock over the air stack to keep mud dobbers from building nests inside. We took off the assembly and pressure washed the tar out of it. Got gobs of mud out of there, figured it to be clean. The stack was so rusted, we cut it off to replace it. Once we could see inside there was still a lot left in there behind the baffle where the water couldn't reach.
On the health issues, just keep focusing on the vast improvements over the time. It can't be easy, but as long as you have a will to do things, even at a slower pace, keep that good attitude going. Having a tractor hobby to keep your mind in the zone, is a good thing. Always gonna be something wrong with them, usually just minor stuff, but keeps the learning process going. As Red Green would say, "hang in there, we're all pullin' for ya".

Lol. Sounds like something I'd say.Tony - I have a cute story to share that is similar to what you just said. Lisa (SIL) was a nurse, witnessed and accident where a motorcycle went off the road and collided with a solid object. She immediately went to assist the poor lad, the first thing he said was "how's my bike?" Lisa said "Not as bad as you". Hang in there lad, you'll have stories to tell down the road. Tom
usually an eBay seller will do anything to avoid negative feedback. I know I would!I've been in contact with the ebay seller. He wants me to pay 2.00 to send a replacement gauge, or he'll reimburse me 6.00 on the bad one. He claims he can't print a return label but ebay says if I pay for shipping he will have to reimburse me. The guy is more so a " warehouse" aka basement or garage storage for the company that makes these gauges. I sent him pictures of the mechanic gauge reading and he had a ton of excuses that, that gauge is too big, and it's off. I also sent him 4 different screen shots of people on other fourms having 0 or off readings with the same gauges which he didn't like. He claims the gauges are tested for 40 psi, which explains possible off rates, but if I got some sort of reading on a 100 psi gauge I'd still have something. I'm just going back in fourth with him yet and just became a blame or bickering war. I don't think I'll be getting my $29.09 back or all the hassel it's worth to try dealing to get it back.......leason learned but I got plenty of time to go back in fourth with him in my day...........the prince of Egypt is keeping me busy with his 1.2 million offer too.
I'll probably check out evergreen gauges or steiner tractor parts and get something I should've bought.
I figured I have the time to go back in fourth with him......cheap entertainment. He has 100% customer satisfaction rating......not saying they are all accurate or real. If I can get a new, accurate reading, working gauge at $0.00 shipped to me. I'll be 100% happy too......just took 2 weeks and lots of bickering to get there.usually an eBay seller will do anything to avoid negative feedback. I know I would!
I didn't look close to see where they came from, but was watching you tube channels guys were saying their steiner gauges came from India. The company has 100% satisfaction for their ebay store, but after reading on other fourms seems like guys have similar issues of off readings or none at all. It's unfortunate cause these gauges look sharp. Not sure how accurate the 2 other gauges are but I did find a white face oil pressure gauge at napa that'd fit and look well.Good choice...I will not buy from foreign vendors on that site...buy USA or not at all.
Yup figured these past 2 years she's been spoiled between my wife and son home during covid and me recovering from the accident and now possibly going back to work next week on restrictions so figured better give her extra lovin.Good progress nonetheless...looks good. Dog time is the best...have to calibrate the Lab now & then.
