Older Briggs & Stratton 18hp considered to upgrade my H3

Hey gang, I've got the opportunity to pick up an older Briggs & Stratton 18HP for a decent price from a fellow, and am considering buying it to repower my H3 so it has more grunt. Then once I take the K321 out, put it in the H1 since THAT motor has a broken rod. Given the condition of the B&S 18 twin, this might be a win-win to have both tractors fully functional.

I've watched several videos about others who have done this with the new stuff, and this interests me.
I'm looking for feedback, hopefully, where others have done this with the older twins. maybe they could share some input of what will be involved.

I just put one in my 317
you might have trouble finding the stubb shaft for briggs as it is discontinued . The briggs was a little smaller overall in size I did not need to cut anything (frame) very happy with the motor

The sub shaft in the picture above in a original deere It could have worked just elongate the holes a bit. The 140 drive shaft is different than the 317 I believe. The briggs crank centerline was about 3/16 higher than the KT17 not a problem with the double joints. my PTO from the kohkler bolted right up. I had to sand down four bosses under PTO plate to get it to bolt up against the block also made a small shim for the crank to keep clutch and coil gap correct. Hope this helps
