I have now accumulated an H3 1970 140 tractor with a 54" blade, a #8" mower deck, a #33 tiller and a 3 point hitch all for $900 in less than 2 months.

I was wondering what was the original purchase price of these items. Any idea what they might have cost back in '70.

These are for the 1974 model year, but that is the only 140 pricing info I have.

That's great info I did not know they had that much of a price tag then. Wish one of the family would have bought me some attachments for my 5th birthday.

Hi Kenny. Yeah, right at 2 grand just for a 140 H-3 with no attachments. I was only 2 1/2 when this price sheet was made, but I guess to me back then a 140 and attachments would be pretty much the same as buying a new X series 4wd diesel and attachments now, just way too expensive

The 33 tiller was the most expensive implement. The 3 pt hitch was not that expensive in '74. I wonder why it is worth so much now.

I bought a VW Super Beetle in 1972 for, I think, $1995. I don't think that car is still functioning like this little tractor is.

Hi Stan. If I get time later today or tomorrow, I'll snoop on JD's web site, but those prices probably aren't too far off from today's prices, especially if you use whatever the current top of the line, 2wd gas tractor is.

Someone told me that the later model 4xx series,425,445,455 tractors had durability upgrades such as harder gears and improvements used in the later K92's.

Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

Just my .02 the 4X5's need trans coolers, my x485 has a bigger trans cooler than my X720

The 4x5's have a trans cooler routed through the bottom tank of the radiator...
