WOW it's official, my brain lacks whatever it takes to interpret those symbols. If John had used six more pictures (could get by with three since I understand: cooler, pump and steering cylinder) I could see myself understanding and maybe being able to hook this up.

I've got some studying to do and maybe some coloring if I can find any crayons.

Thank you Chuck and John. John by any chance do you have any electrical schematics?

Shady, here are simplified diagrams that maybe easier to understand. Like Chuck was saying the stuff going on inside of each of the components is not real important for what you are doing. This would be more for engineering or for trouble shooting the internal components of each item.

As a side note usually when I have done anything with hydraulics we would say back to tank(T) instead of return (R). I just thought this might be helpful knowledge if anyone is ever looking at hydraulic schematics and they run across a T instead of an R.

Ron I am thinking maybe you did not use the out to the spool valve instead of to the return line. If you did this it would send the Pressure (AUX) back into the return line and would explain why your hydraulics are not working.
