Yes my 318 uses a little oil and smokes on start up and running. So someday I will need to decide on a re-power with a Vanguard or Re-build the old P series engine.

Are the repowers as critical on the air flow and cooling as the old Onans? Seems the OEM engines had to have the fins perfectly clean or they would fail.

newer engines run leaner

that means cooling is more important

...and they move A LOT more air over the cylinders. Make sure all of your screens are in place, and the seal between engine and firewall, is tight.
