Got the 322 unloaded today. Very faded and rusty, but cranked right up and ran pretty good. Interesting hitch. Here's the rough stuff.
Rawhide because it was RHPAW...
Covered the engine & gas cap.

Good luck, keep us posted on the progress.
There’s the photos!! (y)
tmac,

Glad it runs, and now the fun can begin...! That hitch added complexity is a mount socket for the vertical support for a grass-bagger attachment...

I always thought gasoline yanmar was very cool. The engine seems to be robust, smooth, and have a nice low tone.

I'd take one of the Yanmar's over an Onan all day long.

Be careful with the side screens, very expensive to replace!

With any luck it'll wind up like this:

New fuel pump ordered...rain next two days they say.
Got about 90 mins. with the 322 today. Oil good, radiator good, carb okay, air cleaner complete. Plugs looked pretty toasty.. put in a set of NGKs from the bench. Lubed the choke and cable, throttle base, brake lock and hydro lever base. Tried the brake lock/release, works but feels like no return spring present. Checked batt connections, turned the key and no crank. Must have upset something...I'll have to check the power/crank switches...lights on the dash just no starter action. Covered it until Wed. rain in the 4cast. 👍
tmac,

The starter enabling wiring excerpt is just a little different from the more common 318 often discussed in this forum. The 322 has a Neutral Start Relay that does the function of the "starter improvement kit" as retrofitted to the 318's. Below is the detail -- let us know if all seems normal but it still does not crank...

Ah yes, the cursed N start relay...I had to find and replace that on the derelict 332. Could also be the key switch, if it's original. Think I'll pull and test the key switch first, since it fired right off when we loaded it and when I unloaded it at the house. May be a Thursday/Friday job though...rain coming today. And of course I parked it on the shop apron off to the right side so I can come and go with the 430 if need be, and there isn't much room now to access the right side of the tractor...where the relay and key switch reside. Just my luck...maybe I should park the other 322 next to it for encouragement, or as a tow vehicle.

Waiting on a fuel pump and cover for Rawhide.
I believe there is also a seat switch in the purple wire circuit

Parts arrived today, stock fuel pump, cover from GreenParts online. May be Sat. before I can mess with it.

Wiring is always fun. Your best bet is use jumpers to get it running than slowly fix the rest.
Wiring is always fun.
You are a big fibber. NO wiring is never fun. :D

Plan is to install the new fuel pump, then check seat, N and PTO circuits by bypassing each one in turn...then raise it up and pull/check the N start relay. Also pull and test the key switch. All this while looking closer for other hickies too.
Need a few days of sunshine & dry weather...ground is a muddy mess right now. Good thing the shop apron where it's parked is topped with loose stone...not perfect but better than mud or a soggy plywood mat.
