Hi,
Had to take the tank and fuel lines off my 318. Now I cant get the fuel line grommets fully reseated. the plastic tank doesn't help when trying to force in do to being somewhat flexible.
any ideas?
Thanks,
Mark
Went through this with my 420. Purchased the new deere ones and there was no way these were going back in. Took a dremel with a deburring bit and tweaked the hole id until it worked out.
Buy the New ones from John Deere. My dealer had them in stock, about $6 total for the pair and someone had posted the part numbers on here. Your time screwing with the old ones, is not worth the cost of the new ones.
Knotty I tried the silicone grease, enlarging the holes and etc, etc. The new grommets went in without an issue, trust me been there done that. Plus adding all that grease will make the rubber rot.
Hey all, I got in in earlier today. Had filled tank last night thinking I had it fully seated. Some gas was leaking so I took a smaller screwdriver to try pushing the lower edge in and it worked! They are both fully seated now. There is still a little seapage if tank is pushed but once seat pan is back on that cant happen so should be o.k. Didn't have chance to get new ones from dealer who is 20 miles away but will probably get them so ready next time there is a problem
I keep at least a couple in the parts drawer. Like you, I am about 20 miles to the JD store. Costs more in time and money than it does to just keep some spares of a few affordable things.
