That variator rotates on a pipe sleeve. Some of the pipe sleeves are rusted in and the whole thing could be rotating on the bolt.
The variator is bolted to the arm under the tractor with 2 bolts, you'll need to remove the battery box and pull the remaining part out from above. Most of the variator arms that I removed needed to be heated up with a torch to drive the pivot out of the arm.
