I picked up a RX73 today to mow with. The engine runs good but the mower won't move unless it's in 5 or higher and no reverse. The belts look to be really loose. Is there some way to adjust these belts ? Or maybe they need replacing they look pretty good shape.
I believe you need a service manual to do a step by step belt adjustment. It is bit of a long involved process. Try seeing if a dealer will make copies of the parts of the manual you will need. Roger
After stopping at the dealer today to order parts and talking the guy at the counter said it sounded like the variator was stuck. Well after further inspection he's correct. Is there anything I can spray on it to free it up that won't hurt the belts ?
Take the belts off and then spray it with the lube of your choice. With the belts off you will be able to tell if it is freed up or not. Then clean it the best you can and put grapite on the variator not a lube. If it is really stuck then PB Blaster would be my choice. Roger
