I'm trying to address some vibration issues in a very original 1987 318 with 1500 hours. I determined today that both U-Joints (AE793E) have looseness in them. There may be other wear, but I'll not know for sure until I get the shaft out tomorrow. The OE JD U-joints, AE793E, are cheap enough at $11.35 each.

However, another option may be to replace the entire driveshaft. There are plenty on eBay. I thought I'd look on WFM first. I'm looking for a known good, and tight, driveshaft for the 318 w/ P218. It should have the standard (M85490) yoke, and not the heavy duty clamping version. If you have one please pm me with more details. I would need it shipped to NY - 12123.

New U joints should take care of the vibration. I think I would try this first. There might be vibration in a used driveshaft.

OK, I got the driveshaft out, and have ordered the the AE793E U-joints. Will no be longer be looking for a replacement driveshaft.
