Hi everyone. New guy here. So here's my story:
I was just lucky enough to be given a beautiful 1974 110 Garden Tractor complete with a snow plow attachment, mower deck, & original manuals. The original owner is a family friend who just wasn't much for the outdoors and this machine sat unused for many years while someone else mowed his lawn. The only misfortune was that it sat with a full tank of gas.

After soaking the carb in laquer-thinner and rebuilding,& new condensor, she is running again.

I still have the mower deck off because I need to replace a PTO idler sheave with bad bearing (apparently it did see some use), but the tractor runs and drives.

Problem: what I believe is the brake on the rear axle, left side of the trans, gets real hot. This can't be good.

Maybe just stuck from sitting with parking brake on for 20+ years? Can anyone give me pointer on how to adjust and/or free-up, preferably without removing whole trans? I'd like to mow with it if I can this summer, and then next winter give it additional attention.

Also, I replaced the belt on the deck, but I don't see any grease points?
39" deck, serial HO39D 300283M, lubrication?

Steve, the brake rod should be on the right side of the frame, and has a clevis that can be adjusted. You have to pull the pin out to turn it. The brake band should be a little loose on the brake "drum".

There are no grease fittings on the mower deck. The bearings are sealed, and you'll have to replace them when they go bad.

Welcome to the site. How about a couple of pics of the tractor?

Bill.
