Other tin painted. Going cut the old inner tube in small pieces to use between the washer and nut against the newly painted tins.

Going to pull the hood off spray it down with a mixture of dawn dish soap and water and lightly clean it with a scotchbrite pad. Probably go in 3 passes with a different direction for each pass. I don’t want to use any harsh chemicals on the fiberglass hood as not sure if it will do any damage.

Got a little more done. Got the grill out sanded it down and a coat of primer on the back side. Have been spraying some dawn and water mixture to clean off some of the grease and grime.
Hopefully we can start the tractor and get the oil changed this weekend. Then we can get the tire back on the front right and pull the front left tire and rim.

I try to do one thing each day. Got the grease zerks cleaned and reinstalled and hit em with the grease gun. A few little blast of pb blaster on bolts every few days to make it a little easier to remove the next items.

Big Al made a decision this good will be yellow. He’s been watching a guy on YouTube who did a 318 in yellow. See what he wants to do with the fender deck area.

We got more done. The front grille is yellow now. Big Al likes the look of the “Patio’s”. Safe to say this is going to be his 212 Patio.. Sure who am I to argue. Al got the hood off and we cleaned up the hood with a scotchbrite pad a couple times with dawn soap and water mixture. When it dried out He scuffed it a little bit with another scotchbrite pad so I can lay down a few light coats of primer.

We have been having a tough time with the front wheel bearings. I purchased the am102605 replacement 1” id 2”ob x9x16” from local jd ended up splitting the bearing trying to press it in… bought another replacement am33797 which had an extended hub. That didn’t work. Went to an appointment this morning and there was an industrial bearing company close by. Stopped in since I had the bearings with me to go to mother deerest later. Gave them the one we took out and the crossed it to what they have. Placed an order pick up later in the week. Picture of cross reference bearing. We will update about the new bearing. Got out a little early and got the 2nd coat of primer on the hood. Going to hit it once more later this evening to give it 3 coats. Got to clean up the headlight assembly. Noticed that one of the wires has a gouge in it. I am thinking that we should cut that area out and splice in some new wiring.

Any good suggestions as to what to use to clean the inside of the headlight assembly? I was thinking of Q tips and rubbing alcohol.

Bearings were not a direct replacement… not happy… Anyways, Got a little more done

Logo Label Kit car

to the 212. Cleaned up the headlight wiring harness with alcohol a paint brush and some q tips. Going to fit a piece of shrink tube over the split in the insulation to fix that just need to remember where I put the shrink tube at…Took the air cleaner off old mouse house in there cleaned that out. I will wire wheel the inside of the air cleaner “box” this week then wipe it down with wd-40 then install the new air cleaner. Carb and choke cleaner was 2 for 1 using a coupon. Got 2 and sprayed down some more of the engine and wire brushed some more areas. St least I can see the carb now lol. I have bearings I. The freezer to install this week and picked up a new propane tank to heat the hub and press the bearing in with a block of wood and 15lb sledge this week.

Got a little more done. Gave the air cleaner a good cleaning. The mouse house was in there for quite a while… Wire wheeled the rust off the outside and inside. Applied a couple coats of wd40 to the inside surface. A couple coats of rustoleum primer to the outside and a couple coats of black high temp. Little by little the old 212 is coming along. Next will be the muffler shield to clean up and get a coat or two of high temp black.

Got some more not pretty work done yesterday afternoon… cleaned the rubber air cleaner gasket / housing edge protector with wd40 a few times. Really got in the “groove” of the protector to remove the rust that had stuck to it. Gave it another light coat if wd40 on the outside rubbed it into and wiped off the excess. Sort of reconditioned the rubber. It seemed to be more pliable and less brittle. Will check it out today put another coat on it. A little gorilla glue on the inside of the seal to hold it in place and put it back on the 212 with the new air filter. Got the muffler shroud degreased, wire wheeled and gave it a coat of high temp black. Took the front support off a well. Will hit the with scotchbrite pad and wire wheel in some places prime it then think paint it black as well since the exhaust hits that area to keep it kind of clean. All the bolts sitting in MMO will clean with wire brush and then put some pieces back on the 212. Get it looking like a tractor again.

Some more done on the 212. Got the muffler off nothing rattling inside so I think that’s a good sign. I ordered a new muffler clamp. I am going to over the muffler with the high heat black paint I am thinking 3 coats minimum. Will need to get a new can to get that done. Sprayed down the engine with degreaser after the muffler was removed a couple of times.

I noticed the ground wire from the battery wax not I. Good shape at the connector. I will have to sort that out. Thinking just clip it, strip it back and reattach try no to lose to much of the cable.
Got a coat of primer on the front grill / hood mount frame will get another coat on it later then hit it tomorrow with some yellow. I will attempt to take off the tin on top of the engine and clean with wire brush snd degreaser some point this week.
For those watching this thread I have a question. Should I A- get the primary drive belt and replace the one that’s there, or should I try the variation adjustment with the belt that’s on there now?
Please give your feedback. My initial plane wax to do both of those belts when we take the platform off.
