I have a 1990 316 Onan. She starts and still runs great. When cold, the PTO engages without a problem. However, after I have been running the tractor for a while (perhaps 45 minutes or more)the PTO will not re-engage if you shut it off for any reason. When it cools down, it engages fine. I checked the archives, but I could not find the answer to my problem. Is this an electrical issue?

Welcome to the WFM forum! The PTO clutch/brake assembly on the tractor should be set to an air gap of 0.018 inches. If it is out of adjustment you may not get it to engage reliably when it is up to engine temperature. Start with checking this adjustment.

There are other more serious issues that can be associated with such a symptom as well that can be electrical in nature (internal winding shorting at elevated temperature) but not as common as the air gap being out of adjustment.
