318 to 445 rims

The answer to your question lies in the width of the hub. Measure through the bearings (where the spindle goes) from outside to outside of the bearings. 318 hubs will be 3 1/4", not sure about 445 measurement. Some time ago I bought aftermarket wheels 8 X 7 from Miller Tire that were 3 1/2". That left no room for a snap ring, but the outside bearing was flush with the end of the spindle. I was able to drill and tap the spindle and it worked out well with a washer and bolt, and the dust cover still fit.

These spindles are HARD! You can sneak up on the hole size with bigger and bigger bits. Tapping them is a challenge. Snap On replaced two taps by the time I got-er done.
