I know that certain injector pumps will pull the fuel from the tank but that isn't a good positive supply resulting in damage to the inj. pump. Too much pressure as said also isnt good. There has to be the correct balance of volume and pressure. I too wanted to find an aftermarket alternative due to cost but will spend the money to get the right supply pump. The inj pump isnt easy to repair/cheap to buy if it gets wiped out.
