My fuel shutoff solenoid is bad...how do I bypass it..1990 332 diesel

I did this to a 332 wanted manual fuel shutoff. I got a shutoff cable for a 330 and installed it on rear dash screen. But there was a catch to all this and if I recall there was a spring on the governor rack that I had to reverse and or reengineer. What your thinking id possible and better in my opinion.
