I am looking for a replacement for the foam pad that sits under the front of the fender pan on a 332. It appears to be the same thing that is used as a filter in pond skimmers but I cannot find the correct thickness. Thanks for any help.

Jeremy, Box stores have adhesive backed foam insulation (for weather stripping). Squeeze it and get the firmest they have. Bob

Jeremy, Looking through the parts catalog, the fender deck sits on four isolators, M76270,and not foam strips. If you have foam, or want foam, box stores! Bob

I think he's referring to the foam mesh pad that tucks under the front of the fuel tank, and extends forward to the pedestal. It covers the driveshaft and sits on the frame. I have recently taken the fender pans off of 2 of my 322s, and I have that "foam" pad on both. In my parts catalog, PC-2149, it looks like it might be # 10, on page 80-44, E19, M89363, Foam Pad, Frame seal. I don't have access to my pad now, but I'd say it is approx 3/8-1/2" thick.

Ken,
You are correct. My foam pad is very rough and mostly starting to fall apart. I measured mine at roughly 1/2" thick. Like I said originally, it appears to be the same material used as pond skimmer filters. I just cannot find any thin enough. I was hoping someone had a source for thinner material.

Mine were in good shape so I just cleaned and re-installed them. I think that some generic, cut to fit, furnace air filter material from a big box store might work.

Jeremy, it looks like Bill has found it - it looks just like the coarse foam pad on my 322s.
I believe it's on my 318 too.

Bill,
That is perfect. Thanks for being able to find that. I have enough of my foam left to use as a template but it has a hole from rubbing on the drive shaft and it is in overall bad shape from years of neglect by the previous owner.

Jeremy, Once you get your replacement parts made, use double sided tape to hold them in place for final assembly. I think most types of spray adhesive will "eat" your foam. Bob

The foam actually just sits on the frame and the fender pan sandwiches it in place.
