I have a 1986 318 and in 2012 I replaced the original 26 year old ignition switch with a new John Deere switch. The original switch acted up every so often so I decided to change it. The harness connector was taken apart and I cleaned all the terminals. The new switch is acting up now, sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. If I jiggle the key when trying to start sometimes that does the trick otherwise it is just repeated trying. The connector and terminals on the switch are clean so I believe I must purchase a new switch. I also checked all the wiring and everything is fine there also.
