Onan valve seat work

I have a few Onans in 318 and 316 tractors (and also in a Case 446) that need a refresh. At least one of them for certain needs valve work. I know that Onan doesn't recommend lapping. I have a very strong tendency to want to do things myself. Sometimes that bites me in the butt (looking at you attempt to ream an undersize Onan rod back to nominal) but most of the time it works out. I learn something and I become more independent; sometimes I even get to buy a new tool. I am a decent machinist and a better than decent mechanic. I'm toying with the idea of buying myself a 45 degree valve seat cutter set and trying to do the valves myself.

I'd be interested in any experiences people have with the guided valve seat cutters in the $100 range.

Yes, I know most of you would pull the engine and disassemble it and take it to an engine shop. I won't.
