Your best bet might be to get one from another item and cut it down. Another option is to find an incomplete haban sickle mower, missing the frame or drive components and just rob the parts from it.

What is the 401-D made to fit? The one I have a 4" that fits on a 140.

Better late than never. I have a Haban 426 for a 1968 JD 112H. I got a new 4 foot sickle cutter bar from a company in Nebraska. Here's the information.

He knew exactly what I needed and knew the specs. The bar was 1/4 thick, 3/4 wide 4'-0" long. He even drilled the holes for the pitman arm. Give him the model number and maybe he can help.

Gene, I broke my bar, what was the cost on a new one with all the holes in it.

The sickle sections are standard 3" width with I think 2" hole spacing...there was another thread on the Habans I posted the numbers in. The 1/4x3/4" by 48" long is what mine was as well.

Nice Gene, did you get serrated knives? They worked pretty slick on mine till the bar broke where the pitman mount bolts go through.

Francis,
Here's the sickle company address if you want to order from them.

As you can see, the last guard was cut in half by Webbs Sickle Service. I used half a guard on the first (near the pitman) and half as the last last guard (in my picture). In my picture, you will notice that a complete guard is composed of two spiked guards. One complete guard was cut (cast iron) in half to make up the first and last. Hopes this helps.

Francis, it’s a working sickle bar. I have used it in Vermont on my 7 acre meadow. The flower/grass/goldenrod can get quite thick. There is also a grass I call razor grass because it has barbs on it. This always causes the other grasses to bunch up on the bar. It's a real pain because I have to clear the bar more than I would like to. I thought the sickle would work better than it does, so I was a little disappointed with it. I will try different tractor speeds to see if that helps keep the bar cleaner. I also have a DR walk behind brush mower that's like a brush hog. It is the best walk behind brush mower I've used. It cuts grass/weeds and 2" saplings and mulches them up at the same time. It works 100% better than my sickle. DR came out with a 44" pull behind with a 17HP engine. If it works like my walk behind, I'll get one.
